Agile scope management

An approach to controlling project scope through short, iterative work cycles (sprints) with scope re-prioritized at the start of each cycle, rather than fixed entirely upfront.

A product-development agency runs two-week sprints; at the start of each sprint, the client and team jointly re-prioritize the backlog, so scope changes are absorbed at defined checkpoints instead of arriving as ad hoc mid-sprint requests.

Why it matters for agencies

Agile scope management doesn't eliminate scope creep — it relocates the conversation about it to a predictable, recurring checkpoint. Agencies that run agile engagements still need a clear process for what happens when a client tries to add scope mid-sprint rather than waiting for the next planning session.
