Client sign-off

A client's formal, documented approval of a deliverable, milestone, or change order — typically required before an agency proceeds to the next phase or invoices for the work.

Example

Before starting development, an agency requires written sign-off on final wireframes, so any later request to change the approved layout is clearly a new, billable change rather than a revision within scope.

Why it matters for agencies

Sign-off creates a defensible record of what was actually approved at each stage. Without it, "I thought this was already included" disputes are hard to resolve, because there's no documented moment where the client explicitly agreed the prior phase was complete and in scope.
