Statement of work amendment

A formal, signed modification to an existing, executed SOW — the SOW-level equivalent of a contract amendment, used when a project's scope needs to change materially, not just via a single small change order.

Example

A software project's SOW is amended midway through to add a full new module, formally revising the original deliverables list, price, and timeline rather than layering a series of separate change orders on top.

Why it matters for agencies

For a large enough scope shift, a full SOW amendment is often cleaner than accumulating many individual change orders — it gives both parties a single, current source of truth for the project rather than an original SOW plus a growing stack of separate documents to reconcile.
