Is It Out of Scope? — Web design

Is fixing issues caused by the client's own edits out of scope for a web design project?

Yes. Layout breakage from a client's own CMS edits isn't a design defect covered by warranty.

The site was delivered clean, but a few weeks in the client edited a page directly in the CMS — moved a block, resized an image, deleted a section — and something visually broke. It usually arrives as "the site's broken, can you fix it."

Is it out of scope?

Yes. A layout issue caused by the client's own content edits isn't a defect in the delivered design work — it's a result of changes made after handoff, which the client's own edits caused.

Client responsibilities clause→ — Places the outcome of the client's own post-handoff content edits on the client, distinguishing that from a defect in the original delivered design.

Looking at the page, this changed after handoff — looks like it happened while editing content directly. That's outside what the original design work covers, but I'm happy to fix it as a billed request.

How MarginFlow flags it

MarginFlow flags fix requests outside_scope on design contracts when the change history shows the client's own post-handoff edits caused the issue, rather than a defect in the delivered work.
